Day 22: Creating the Life You Really Want

The Universe wants me to be happy!

Hi there! How are you today? Are you enjoying yourself? Great! We’re making phenomenal progress! Today we’re going to work on how to bring your dreams into reality in your life. Are you saying, “Yeah, sure,” like you don’t really believe me? That’s okay. I’m not asking for blind faith. I’m just asking that you try some of these ideas I’m offering you and then see for yourself what works for you. Is that fair?

This is going to be fun! The way it works is that when you clear out those old feelings from the past that we’ve been working on so much, your unconscious mind is wide open to create new and better circumstances in your life. It’s true! When you’ve done emotional healing work, you’re in a very powerful state of mind. If you want to change your life, now is a very powerful time to start doing that.

The good news is, changing your life is not that difficult once you’ve cleaned out the old feelings. When your mind is clear of that old baggage you’re been carrying around, all you have to do is think of something you really want and then imagine already having it, as if that was true right now. Sometimes your dreams will come true very quickly when you are in that open state of mind.

Your imagination is one of the most powerful natural abilities you have when you learn to utilize your personal power. Think about the fact that every building that stands in the town you live in was once just an idea in someone’s imagination. Every business that was started there was once someone’s idea that they believed in and started working towards. Every house that was built was once someone’s idea of a home they were creating for their family or their loved ones. People bring their dreams into reality every day, and you have the very same power to create good things that they do!

So What Do You Want to Create?

What dreams do you have that you want to manifest in your physical world? Do you want a new car or a new job? Do you want a loving partner? Do you want a beautiful home to come home to at night after you’ve finished your day’s work? What feels important to you? What do you want more than anything in the world?

Okay, so here’s the secret about manifesting your dreams into reality. If you want something more than anything in the world, then imagine that you already have it. Imagine your self living it, and breathing it, and enjoying it, and being so very grateful that it finally arrived. Imagine the joy that would come from this wonderful addition to your life. Imagine telling your friends about it and having them be excited for you that it finally came true. If you really want something, spend five or ten minutes every day just loving the feeling of having what you want and feeling grateful for it from the bottom of your heart!

What often happens when people try to create a new reality is that they get caught up in what they don’t want rather than on what they want. They spend so much time and energy thinking about what’s wrong with their lives that there’s no time and energy left to think about having what they want.

Finding the Magic!

So, please listen carefully, because here’s where the magic comes. The way your subconscious mind works is that whatever you focus on, you get more of! If you focus on what you don’t want, you’ll get more of that. But if you turn your focus to what you really want, and hang out with the feeling of having it, you’ll be amazed at how it finds a way to show up in your life.

Your feelings are very important in this process. It’s not enough just to visualize having what you want and seeing the pictures in your mind of you driving the new car, or you living in the new house. You have to actually feel yourself already there. How would it feel if your dreams were reality? The secret of manifesting is to hang out in the feeling of already having what you want and loving every minute of it! That’s where the joy and light-heartedness comes, when you can imagine that incredible feeling of your life already being the way you want it to be.

Lynn Grabhorn, in her book Excuse Me, Your life is Waiting has a trusty little exercise that helps you stay on track. It helps you focus on what you want rather than on what you don’t want, and then focus on the feeling of actually having it. There are four steps to the exercise.

First, you ask yourself, “What is it that I don’t want?” Give yourself time to really focus on your answer before you go on. Next ask yourself: “What is it that I do want?” Again, give yourself plenty of time to focus and answer. The third question is: “What benefits would I receive in my life from having what I want?” Let yourself have fun with this and really imagine having those benefits as you focus on them! And the fourth question is this: “How would I feel if I was there right now?

To really get the benefit of this exercise, you’ll want to hang out in the feeling of having what you want as long as you can, because that’s the most powerful step in the process. If you walk yourself through this exercise a few times, you’ll see how beautifully it works. It’s very powerful for getting you motivated and on track.

Manifesting your dreams into reality is one of the most fun parts of getting healthy, because you never know how the Universe will bring those dreams into reality. The Universe has a great sense of humor and it brings our dreams into reality so much better than we ever could! Often you may struggle and strain on your own trying desperately to make something happen, and then when you finally let go and let the Universe be in charge, it manifests effortlessly and beautifully.

Listen to Your Intuition!

Your part of bringing your dreams into reality is to keep focusing on the dream as if it’s already true for five minutes every day, and then let your Higher Power be in charge of the actual manifestation. You will be guided through your intuition to do what you need to do to be at the right place at the right time to bring your dreams into reality. It is important that you remember to pay attention to what your intuition is trying to get through to you.

Remember that your intuition is that gut feeling inside you that tells you what to do next, even when it doesn’t make sense to you logically. For example, maybe you’re looking for a new job and you’ve gone through all the steps to imagine your dream job. You may have done everything you know to do to bring it about, but nothing has shown up yet.

Then one day you have a gut feeling that says “I think I need to visit Mary today,” and when you go to Mary’s house, you just happen to bump into an old friend of hers that just happens to know of the perfect job for you. We call it ‘coincidence,’ but actually it’s the Higher Power guiding us through our intuition to bring our dreams into reality.

Some things you imagine will come true very quickly sometimes even within twenty-four hours. Others may take years, depending on your own beliefs about yourself and your own worthiness, and your unconscious willingness to receive what you are focusing on.

If something you really want is not manifesting quickly enough for you, I’d suggest that you work on changing any negative beliefs you have about yourself and your worthiness that could stand in the way of you receiving what you want. Negative beliefs about yourself or your own worthiness will counteract your ability to manifest your dreams.

You may also need to work on forgiving anyone who you have not totally forgiven. The lack of forgiveness towards anyone stops the flow of life in you and also keeps your dreams from manifesting. Don’t worry, we’ll cover those topics more in depth in the full on-line course Journey to Light-heartedness.

So let’s get to work on your life! You’re going to love manifesting your dreams. This is the beginning of a whole new life. When you bring your dreams into reality, your whole world is going to change dramatically for the better!

1.Let’s focus on the wonderful, magical things or people or situations you want to bring into your life. I’d like you to write a list of ten things that you really want to manifest in your life that would make your life better than it is today.

Write them each down very specifically in your journal. Remember to be careful what you ask for. I’ve talked to lots of people who have done this process and got exactly what they asked for. Keep in mind that if you leave out important parts when you’re visualizing your dreams, you may have to go back to the drawing board and do it over again.

2. Now I’d like you to pick the one thing that is most important to you on your list, and let’s visualize it by doing the exercise we talked about today from Lynn Grabhorn’s book. Please write about each step in your journal. The exercise goes like this:

1. What is it that you don’t want in this area of your life?

2. What is it that you do want?

3. What are the benefits you would receive from having what you want in your life?

4. How you would feel if you were there right now/? Please be sure to write a paragraph about that incredible feeling of already being there. Let yourself enjoy hanging out in this feeling of already being there for as long as you can!

3. To complete today’s homework, I’d like you to write a few paragraphs about how you feel after doing the exercises today.
